15 Workout Studios Worth Knowing Around the World

From a bamboo yoga shala in Bali to a red-lit hot Pilates room in Paris, these are the spaces making the case that where you work out matters too.

Fitness spaces are changing. Today's best studios aren't just about equipment and efficiency anymore. They're starting to look more like places you'd find in hospitality, homes, or even art galleries. Good lighting is important, as is the chair you sit on before class, the view from your reformer, and even what the reception desk is made of.

This has led to a new kind of studio that feels really connected to its city. You'd want to visit them even if you didn't have a workout planned.

Here are 15 that caught our attention.

Sunday Sporting Club - London

Refferal-only Pilates studio located in an elegant London setting. Sunday Sporting Club feels intentionally different from the typical fitness studio. It has parquet floors, tall windows, decorative moldings, and a stylish chandelier, all sharing the space with a few reformers.

It feels polished but still like a home, more like a private house than a gym.

Surrenne - Monaco

It’s not only Pilates. It’s a whole wellness center in French Riviera.

Not many studios can compete with the view here.

At Surrenne, the Mediterranean Sea is part of the room. The rows of equipment face a nearly unbroken expanse of blue, while the interior design is kept simple on purpose.

This kind of setting makes it much easier to fit a workout into a trip to the Riviera.

Haven - Amsterdam

Haven takes a gentler approach to wellness interiors. With sheer curtains, warm wood, muted colors, and neatly stored equipment, the studio feels more like a living room than a typical gym.

Tip: You should definitely try a heated yoga there!

Rare Form - Munich

Rare Form Instagram

Rare Form is more striking.

Dark equipment, clean architectural lines, and very little decoration give this Munich studio a feel that’s more focused on performance and a really good, high quality workouts. It still has a strong design sense, just without the softness that has become almost standard in contemporary Pilates studios.

It’s a good reminder that minimalism doesn’t always have to mean beige.

Today’s Pilates - Vienna

At Today’s Pilates, the areas surrounding the workout space are treated with almost as much attention as the studio itself.

Cream upholstery, floor-to-ceiling curtains, warm lighting, and wood floors make the reception area feel more like a small hotel or apartment. It’s subtle, comfortable, and done very well.

Lines Studios - Vienna

Another favorite in Vienna, for a completely different reason.

LINES is built around a series of beautiful vaulted spaces. Wooden reformers are placed under curved ceilings, with very little visual clutter around them.

The architecture does most of the talking.

727 Pilates - Miami

727 Pilates moves away from the bright, sun-filled look that’s common in this type of studio.

The Miami studio is darker and more atmospheric. Tones of brown and burgundy, mirrors, low lighting, and cream-colored equipment create a space that feels especially good at night. There’s also a sauna and cold plunge on site, making the experience go beyond just the class.

Alchemy Yoga Uluwatu - Bali

At Alchemy Yoga Uluwatu, it’s hard to separate the studio from its surroundings.

The large bamboo structure rises and folds above the practice area, while open sides keep it connected to the tropical landscape. It feels uniquely Balinese, not like a wellness concept that could have been placed anywhere.

That alone makes it memorable.

Hume - Los Angeles

Hume Instagram

Hume has the kind of interior design that just makes sense in Los Angeles.

Natural light streams through large windows. Sculptural equipment is spaced out sparingly in the room, and greenery is visible just outside the glass. The effect is warm and simple, especially in the late afternoon light.

Nothing looks overdone, which is probably why it looks so good in photos.

Moon Pilates - Mexico City

Moon Pilates makes a strong case against making every fitness studio a plain, empty box.

Its reformers and tower equipment are placed among decorative plasterwork, tall windows, arches, and detailed ceilings. The contrast between classical architecture and highly functional Pilates equipment gives the space much of its character.

We’d like to see more of this.

Ember - Paris

Ember Instagram

Ember is hard to mistake for any other studio on this list.

The hot Pilates studio is almost entirely bathed in red light, with narrow ceiling lights and a large glowing circle as the main focus. It’s immersive, dramatic, and noticeably different from the muted interiors typically associated with wellness.

Paris hardly needs another beige room anyway.

Dream Seven - Paris

Dream Seven Instagram

Located on Avenue Marceau in Paris’s Triangle d’Or, Dream Seven approaches Pilates and yoga with a clear fashion influence.

Its identity is dark and cinematic, blending classic Parisian interiors with black-and-white photography, art references, and a deliberately understated visual style. Even its social media presence feels more like an independent fashion magazine than a typical fitness account.

It’s one of the more interesting examples of how wellness and fashion are increasingly merging.

Aura Studio - New York

Aura Studio

Aura Studio’s space on the Upper West Side keeps the details that make the room feel unmistakably New York: decorative wall panels, wood floors, and an impressive fireplace in the original style.

Yoga mats are set up directly in front of it.

There are more technically advanced studios in the city, but few with quite the same sense of place.

Reforming Pilates - New York

Across town, Reforming Pilates offers a more typical version of contemporary Manhattan fitness.

Large windows let natural light into a mirrored room filled with reformers, giving the space an open, energetic feel. It’s less about decorative interiors and more about getting the basics exactly right.

Sometimes that's all you need.

Soul Mvnt - Dubai

Soul Mvnt Instagram

Soul Mvnt could easily be mistaken for a new hotel or restaurant.

Veined stone, warm wood, large floral arrangements, and carefully arranged shelves turn its common areas into part of the experience, rather than just places to pass through on the way to class.

It’s a very Dubai take on wellness: thoughtful, highly finished, and luxuriously beautiful.

The new workout space

None of these studios came up with a better way to do Pilates or yoga. What they understood is something a bit different: the environment around a workout changes how we experience it.

Architecture can make a class feel calmer. Natural light can change a room’s energy. A well-designed reception area can make the time before and after a session feel like part of the experience, not just wasted time.

And when just convincing yourself to show up is often half the battle, perhaps good design is more useful than it seems at first.
